AUREL STEIN
EXPLORATIONS IN CENTRAL ASIA

This is our central listing, the
opening page, for the several sections into which we have divided the material
we have selected from reading Stein's books. There are links from the summaries
of each expedition to the longer reports. And we have links to summaries of two
biographies. The first and second expeditions were described by Aurel Stein in
a pair of works - a 'personal report' and an 'official report'. Naturally the
personal and official reports overlap, but the different content and style in
each make it very worthwhile to read both. For the third there is the official
report. And then Stein wrote a summary narrative in which he melded events from
the three expeditions.
