A local band at Uglich is generally near the
dock to great tourists. This small town goes all out with shops for tourists
and is a standard stopping point for nearly all the Volga cruise ships.

As one approaches the town from the dock one
first sees the tower of the city fire warning station.

main church of the Monastery (Convent) of the Epiphany.

The Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Virgin
- Smolenskaya Bogomateri - 1700 in the Convent of the Epiphany - Bogoyavlensky
originally founded in 1661. In 2003 we had the opportunity to go inside but in
2005 a service was being conducted. So see Uglich in the Russian cities
directory for photographs of the frescos inside this large church.

Tsaryevich Dmitri - not the church in the Uglich kremlin but rather it stands a
considerable distance along the main street toward Rostov.

The road to Rostov where it starts at the
city square near the river front. The domes of the Transfiguration Cathedral at
the kremlin are visible behind the trees. This was a Sunday afternoon so there
was little local traffic, only tourists and vendors at the many stalls of which
some are visible at the square.
