A block down the street on the corner stands the huge Cathedral of the Epiphany of our Lord - Bogoyavlenye Gospodnya (1853)- main church of the Monastery (Convent) of the Epiphany.

The Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Virgin - Smolenskaya Bogomateri - 1700 in the Convent of the Epiphany - Bogoyavlensky originally founded in 1661. In 2003 we had the opportunity to go inside but in 2005 a service was being conducted. So see Uglich in the Russian cities directory for photographs of the frescos inside this large church.

The road to Rostov where it starts at the city square near the river front. The domes of the Transfiguration Cathedral at the kremlin are visible behind the trees. This was a Sunday afternoon so there was little local traffic, only tourists and vendors at the many stalls of which some are visible at the square.
