YAROPOLK IZYASLAVICH (after 1043 - ca 1086)

He was the son of Izyaslav I Yaroslavich, prince of Kyiv and Gertrude, a Polish princess. He was prince of Turov and then of Vladimir-in-Volynia (1078 - 1086). He married Cunigunda, daughter of Otto, count of Orlamunde. His sons were Yaroslav and Vyacheslav, prince or crown prince of Volynia. They are shown on this family chart.
Yaropolk supported Vsyevolod I as prince of Kyiv and then also campaigned against him. Vsyevolod sent his son, Vladimir Monomakh against Yaropolk in Volynia. Yaropolk also had to contend with the two sons of Rostislav Vladimirovich, Volodar and Vasil'ko, who wanted Volynia. He was eventually murdered while on the road. See the discussion of the reign of Vsyevolod I for Yaropolk's contributions.
