Vladimir Vsyevolodovich Monomakh was the son
of Vsyevolod I Yaroslavich, prince of Kyiv and his
first wife, Anna Konstantinovna Monomakh, Byzantine Princess. He was prince of
Smolensk (1067 - 1094), then prince of Chernigiv )1078-1094), then prince of
Pereyaslavl (1094-1113) and prince of Kyiv (1113-1125). He married first Gida,
daughter of King Harold II of England, and twice more. His sons were
Mstislav I, prince of Kyiv;
Izyaslav, prince of Murom; Yaropolk I, prince of Kyiv; Vyacheslav, prince of Kyiv; Svyatoslav, prince of Smolensk, Pereyaslavl, and
then Novgorod; Yuri Dolgoruki, prince of Suzdal;
Roman, prince of Vladimir-in-Volynia; and
Andrei Dobri, prince of Vladimir-in-Volynia. His
daughters were Agraf'a, Maria, Yefimna, and
