The archway of the former General Staff building - now housing part of the Hermitage collection - The building was designed by Carlo Rossi in 1819 on order of Tsar Aleexander I after the tsar bought and tore down the private houses in the area. The arch is another memorial to the victory over Napoleon. On it Victory rides a six-horsed chariot held by two Roman soldiers.
