MILITARY HISTORY OF RUSSIA |

This map from Beskrovni's Atlas depicts the march routes of Ivan IV armies to Kazan in 1552. The left arm polk and tsar's druzhina took a northern route while the lead, great and right arm polki took the southern route. The artillery and recon polk went by river past Nishnii Novgorod and Vasil'sursk. Note that the campaign was slightly delayed by the diversion first to Tula to repel a Crimean Tatar threat. |
