Elizabeth Petrovna (reign, 1741 - 1762), came to throne in palace coup. After the death of Peter I and her mother, Catherine I, Elizabeth languished far from the court of Anna Ivanovna and Peter II. But in 1741 she suborned enough officers of the guards regiments to insure her ascent to the throne in a brief coup.
