Boris Gudunov ruled behind the scenes during the reign of his brother-in-law. Feodor Ivanovich. Boris was accused of assassination of Ivan IV's young son, Dmitri, at Uglich. Boris died during a period of acute social turmoil and invasion leaving the throne to his young son, Feodor, who was then murdered.
