RUSSIAN RULERS

  {short description of image}

Mikhail Kutuzov - Field Marshal, Prince of Smolensk. He became such an important figure in the history of the Romanovs through his leadership of the Russian army in the 1812 campaign that defeated Napoleon that he is included in this family display despite the fact that Emperor Alexander I really didn't care for him. Note the realistic depiction of his missing eye, not covered as usual by a patch. He was shot several times leading Russian troops under Suvorov against the Turks. On the occasion that the bullet took out his eye and entered his skull the doctor commented that there had been no apparent lost to his brain.
