He was the son of Yaroslav Svyatoslavich, prince of Ryazan and Murom. He then became appanage prince of Ryazan and Murom. His sons were Gleb, appanage prince of Ryazan; Yuri; and Andrei, prince of Ryazan. The family is shown on this chart.
