ROSTISLAV RURIKOVICH (? - 1215)

 
   
 

He was the son of Rurik Rostislavich, prince of Kyiv and Anna Yur'yevich, princess of Turov. He was grand prince of Kyiv from 1204. He married about in 1189 with Verkhuslava, daughter of Vsyevolod III Yur'yevich Bolshoye Gnezdo, grand prince of Vladimir. Their daughters were Izmarda and Yefrosiia. He is shown on this family chart. In 1204 he was captured by Roman Mstislavich and taken as prisoner to Galich. But his father - in -law, Vsyevolod III, of Vladimir interveened and forced Roman to release Rostislav, whereupon Vsyevolod placed him on the throne at Kyiv.
