She was the daughter of Yaroslav I Vladimirovich, Grand Prince of Kyiv and
Irina (Ingired) daughter of Olaf, King of Sweden. She married Harrold Hardradda
III King of Norway. According to the story Harrold, one of the great warriors
of all time, came to Kyiv and fell in love with Elizabeth, but she would not
marry an exiled prince. He continued on to Byzantium and entered the Varangian
Guard, becoming commander and amassing huge wealth during his exploits all over
the eastern Mediterranian. With ship load of gold and wealth he returned to
Kyiv, whereupon Elizabeth was pleased to marry him. They went to Norway, where
Harrold became king. Unfortunately in 1066 he decided to conquer England as
well. But he was killed at Stamford Bridge. Their daughters were Ingrid and
Maria.
