The Wikipedia entry has tables showing the
Grand princes in chronological order with pictures of those who are available
and dates from Vladimir the Great to Michael of Chernigov. Some were titled
Grand Prince of Kiev and some Grand Duke of Kiev which was the title of the
prince of Kiev (Kyiv) and the ruler of Kievan Rus' from the 10th to 13th
centuries. In the 13th century, Kiev became an appanage principality first of
the Grand Prince of Vladimir and the Golden Horde governors, and later was
taken over by the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The rule of descendents of Rurik
went to the Grand duke of Vladimir and then to the rulers of Moscow.
Prior to the known historical rulers there were Mythological names and dates
for founding of Kiev itself.
The first historical figures were the Rurik Dynasty:
The Rurikids were descendants of Rurik (Rørikr), a Varangian pagan
chieftain. The amazing result was, that in contrast to the ruling houses of
western European countries, descendents in this dynasty ruled throughout not
only Kyiv but Vladimir, Moscow and the other appanages down to the reign of
Ivan IV and the temporary reign of Shuiski.
Kiev, itself, came under control of Lithuanian princes for a time and for
Polish rulers at other times.
