This view shows the Kolotcha stream just south of the bridge on the country road (old Smolensk Road) near the Borodino village. During the battle Eugene captured the bridge initially from Russian jagers but was driven back. The French then had to build several pontoon bridges across this stream. The main Russian positions were along the ridge to the left in the distance in this view.
