Monument to the Millennium of Russia - 1000th anniversary, dedicated in 1862, the anniversary of the arrival of Rurik the Varangian.It was cut up by the Germans during their occupation in World War II, but rescued by the Red Army before they could take it away. At the top are Mother Russia and the Orthodox Church. Important historical leaders are around the central part. Other personages are in the lower band.
