This monument to Peter I stands in front of the small museum at Botnik on the hill beside the location where he built a shipyard to construct his first sailing ships for Lake Pleshchevo seen in the distance. The museum was opened by Prince Ivan Dolgoruki in 1803 and the monument designed by Campioni was constructed by order of Grand Dukes Mikhail and Nikolai Nikolaevich in 1850-52.
