This diagram from Beskrovni's atlas depicts the organization of the Japanese army for the war. The infantry division had two brigades of two regiments each and the regiments had 3 battalions each. It had a cavalry regiment and an artillery regiment with 36 guns of which half were mountain artillery. When the infantry regiment deployed for the attack it placed two battalions on line, each of which placed 3 of its companies on line and one covering the flank. The third battalion was in resereve. |
