Reviewer comments:

This volume consists of 28 essays by many scholars each focused on the ideas about strategy of one or several related leading theoriticians, from Machiavelli and his contempories to 20th century authors on nuclear strategy or revolutionary war. It was prepared specifically as a modernization of the famous compendium of the same name edited by Edward Mead Earle in 1966.
