Turkish, Sardinian and Russian. Note that the Russians held their field army on
the hills north east of the city while the Allies occupied the penninsula to
the south and west. The British and French priority objective after the Battle
on the Alma was to capture ports through which they could be assured of
supplies. The French army here was much larger than that of the British.
