ALMA BATTLE - CRIMEAN WAR

View from Lord Raglan's position east toward redoubt on Kourgane hill. From here he witnessed the advance of the three Highland regiments in echelon across the brown fields in the far distance. He could observe a great deal of the action of the Fusiliers and the Guards as they crossed the river and attacked the redoubt also, but not quite as well. Of course the buildings in the center of the picture were not there in 1854.
