Serindia 249 - Gate fortress of Chia-yu-kuan seen from south-west - Stein immediately recognized that this is a Ming Dynasty fortress in the Great Wall and was the custom's post for entrance ande exit from China to the west. He was welcomed by the Chinese garrison commander. It is now restored for tourists.
