Detail of index map for Innermostasia - map sheets 40 , 41, 42, 43, 46 - shows the easternmost area surveyed by Stein and Lal Singh - This includes the four successive high ranges of the eastern Nan-shan - Richthoven - To-lai-shan - Alexander III and Suess - all of course renamed by Chinese now. We see the headwaters of the Su-lo-Ho flowing northwest to near Yum-en-hsien where it turns to flow west into the Lop desert; and the Kan-chou flowing southeast before turning outside the mountains 180 degrees back northwest to where it joins the Pei-ta to form the Etsin-gol at Mao-mai and flow north into the desert. Kan-chou and Su-chou also appear. Stein's routes show as red lines. Sections of the Han wall show as red with small points.
