This table contains maps and
information on Colonial (pre Revolution) wars before and after 1689 - the
Revolutionary War - and the War of 1812
|
|
|
The maps are from the West Point Atlas of
American Wars, Vol. I, 1689 - 1900 - Chief Editor, Col. Vincent Esposito,
Dept. of Military Art and Engineering, published by Frederick Praeger, N.Y.,
1959
|
|
|
Note: The Atlas does not show the colonial
wars prior to 1689, nor all the engagements along the frontier. We will attempt
to find maps for these. Many of the articles reached by links here do have maps
of the battles they discuss. We also include links to other references. For
suggested further reference we list here some prior wars compiled by H. W.
Crocker III in his book Don't Tread on Me, Crown Forum, NY.,
2006. We include URL links to some references - But by using Google with any of
these names will generate many useful resourcs.

with major results between the British government and the American colonies.

The decisive battle that resulted
in end of Pontiac's Rebellion - also known as the "Highlander's Relief of

The battlefield is now a memorial park and excellent paintings. See

These references show that there
were many more engagements and battles - and raids - during the war than
American hisory books mention. Many of these are amphibious raids or small
naval engagements on inland rivers. Naval battles on the high seas are lised
separately. Here we list only a few of the land engagements.
